"Cows are amongst the gentlest of breathing creatures; none show more passionate tenderness to their young when deprived of them; and, in short, I profess a deep love for these quiet creatures."
- Thomas de Quincey

Jimmy was raised to be a veal calf. At just a few days old, he was torn away from his mother (so humans could have his milk) and forced to spend his short life in a tiny pen. These confined areas are designed to prohibit exercise and normal muscle growth in order to produce tender “gourmet” veal as well as "rennet" (baby cows' stomach lining) to make cheese. Cows do not produce milk unless they have babies which is why they are continuously artificially inseminated. For mothers, their life is one endless sorrow as they have their babies taken away. For boys like Jimmy, most will share this horrific fate.
At only a few weeks old, Jimmy's time was running out. He was one day away from being sent on a veal truck, when a kind man heard about his plight. Thankfully, he was able to save Jimmy, but he still needed to find him sanctuary. That's when CCFS stepped in and offered to give him a permanent home here with us.
Jimmy is the sweetest calf with his adorable underbite and enormous capacity for love. We love this little boy so much and are thrilled that he has also found a place in your heart. Thank you for your part in his story and helping to give him the very best life.
