Rookery Woods: Visitors must be physically able to walk approx. a ¼ mile on uneven terrain down a beautiful, woodland path to the farm sanctuary. For those needing special parking accommodations, please contact us several days in advance so we can make arrangements. Our historic, forest farm is home to all kinds of wildlife (and possible magical creatures.) We recommend talking audibly (not yelling) so as not to surprise them - and like “Little Red Riding Hood” – stay on the path. This also protects delicate flora and fauna and diverse eco-systems. We also suggest wearing plenty of bug spray. The woodland path follows our sanctuary fencing which is electric, so DO NOT TOUCH. The Rookery woods consists of 50-natural acres.
Children are welcome, but must stay with their parents at all times. No running or climbing fences. Most of the animals who live here come from places of severe neglect and abuse and are wary of strangers. They may not want to interact or be touched. Masks are required to be worn once you pass through the gate onto the sanctuary grounds. Please, do not visit if you are/have recently been sick or have been around other sick people or anyone that has tested positive for COVID-19 within the last month. While we will be there to answer questions, most of your visit will be self-guided. We ask that once inside the sanctuary grounds voices are quiet and people walk calmly keeping your children at hand so as not to scare the animals. This is their home and they must always come first.
• Due to contagious animal diseases, if you have been around a sick animal please do not visit us. If you have farmed animals, including equine, or have recently been around them, please change your clothes and footwear and wash hands before visiting us as we have strict animal disease management protocols. • Dogs and other companion animals are not allowed out of safety to our animal residents. • Unless you are looking to invite bears, food is not to be brought outside of your car. • Be sure to sign our visitor registry so we can keep you informed of special events. • Visitors enter at their own risk.
